They All Said It!

A sister in Christ told me, “The Lord has been good to me!” Notice how her statement echoes what the following people in the Bible said of themselves:

1) Jacob: “I am not worthy of the least of all the deeds of steadfast love and all the faithfulness that you have shown to your servant...” (Gen. 32:10; see 35:2-3; 48:15).

2) David: “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house that you have brought me thus far?” (2 Sam. 7:18).

3) The psalmist: “For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling” (Ps. 116:8).

4) Mary: “...for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name...” (Luke 1:49).

5) Paul: “...But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's mouth” (2 Tim. 4:17).

What are the advantages of saying, “The Lord has been good to me”?

●It is good to acknowledge Him as the true Source of our blessings. We recognize we are not self-sufficient.

●We give Him the glory instead of boasting in our own achievements.

●Our spirits are lifted by focusing on the blessings we enjoy instead of our troubles.

●By saying it, we may help point others to the One who is good to them as well.

“The Lord has been good to me!” It’s good to hear. It’s good to say!
